62-0 Let’s Go!

Nate and I arrived this morning to LHR then took the train to Bristol. We grabbed lunch and then headed to the first University of the West of England football game of the year. Brayden played six different positions - started at center, left and right guard, D end and jack (both ends), and kick off return. The Bullets won 62-0 with a running clock. Shout out to everyone watching in the States! We heard from Mimi and Pa the announcers were calling Bub’s name quite a bit. And he got recognized by his coach as the O lineman of the game. It’s really a different experience, but it was so much fun to watch these guys come together to play (and dominate) a game they love.

Tomorrow we’re headed to Bath.

Review: Salisbury, UK 🪨🪨🪨 1/2

The specific reason to go to Salisbury is to see Stonehenge. It was a nice town with some good food and very friendly people. But we probably won’t find a reason to go back - it’s about a two hour train ride from either Bristol or London. Pros: Tuesday and Saturday farmer’s market, walkable, good food and pubs. Tinga was our favorite, and we wish there was one in Bristol. Cons: Out of the way, roads are narrow and busses drive really fast (watch out!), all shops close around 5:30 with restaurants open later, Stonehenge was about a 20 min drive, limited hotel options Lodging: Milford Hall Salisbury (an IHG)

Trains, planes and automobiles: Stuttgart🚆➡️ Munich✈️➡️ Bristol🚖

​This was the day we’d designated to celebrate Thanksgiving 🙏 with Brayden and Carlie. So Nate, Beau and I left our hotel in Stuttgart at 6:45 am 🚆 to head to Munich and catch a flight ✈️ to Bristol via Amsterdam. Security in Munich was smooth sailing so we had a ton of time to wait, but there aren’t really restaurants or anything, which is weird. What I was really worried about was our 55 mins between planes in Amsterdam. We arrived about 5 min late and it took forever to get off the plane. For whatever reason, in Amsterdam even to change planes in a different part of the airport you have to go through passport control, and the line is LONG. We’ve now done it three times… Anyway, great news was KLM airlines knew we had a short connection so automatically sent a “fast pass”  of sorts. Bad news was it was .8 miles from gate to gate plus passport control. And we had about 35 mins. 🏃‍♂️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽Somehow we made it! Whew! So back to the real reason for the travel…When we arrived at...

Review: Loch Lomond (not Ness) 🐉🐉🐉 1/2

From Edinburgh we felt like we needed to get more into Scotland and see a loch. Loch Lomond was about 90 minute north and was a great choice. Reminded us of the Ozarks except the lake is fed by glacial waters and VERY cold. On our morning walk, an older Scottish man was sitting on his porch and chatted us up for a bit. Reminded me of my grandpa Dowell. Pros: Super cute town, beautiful sunrise, very walkable Cons: Unfortunately no monsters in the loch, pitch black dark at 5 pm Lodging: The Lodge on Loch Lomond included dinner, breakfast and an hour in the sauna rooms
